Jocelyne Chan (FOUNDER, PIANO, UKULELE, CELLO, COMPOSITION)
Jocelyne, a cellist, musicologist, and music educator, received top-quality classical music training and believes in the value of practice and perseverance. She graduated from UCLA's famed Herb Alpert School of Music with a degree in music performance and musicology. Her area of specialization lies in piano and cello pedagogy, advanced music theory, and musicianship. With a passion for music that she wishes to share with people of all ages, she founded the New Bach Music School, bringing a fresh approach to music learning and raising the bar for music education.
Selina Siow (PIANO, UKULELE, VIOLIN, MUSIC EDUCATION)
Selina is a skilled violinist, collaborative musician, and music educator. With extensive orchestral experience, she has held prestigious positions in various ensembles worldwide, including the Chicago Philharmonic, University of Washington Symphony Orchestra, and the Asian Youth Symphony. She garnered acclaim at the International Music Festival EURASIA and has performed as a soloist with the Hong Kong Charity Chamber Orchestra.
Ms. Siow holds a Master of Music (M.M.) and a Performance Diploma (P.D.) from the Chicago College of Performing Arts, where she studied under Mrs. Almita Vamos and Dr. MingHuan Xu. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education from the Education University of Hong Kong. A proud recipient of the Helen A. Reynolds Endowed Scholarship in Music, she is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) at the University of Washington, where she studies with Ms. Rachel Lee Priday and serves as a Teaching Assistant in the School of Music.
Eliza Rodriguez (PIANO, UKULELE, FLUTE, MUSIC EDUCATION)
Eliza began her professional music career in the San Francisco Bay Area, bringing extensive experience in teaching private lessons and group classes to K-12 students. A graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Eastman School of Music, she studied under Bonita Boyd and Timothy Day, with additional guidance from Donna Shin, Nancy Stagnitta, and Nadine Asin.
Eliza's performance experience includes prestigious music festivals such as the Aspen and Bay View Music Festivals, as well as masterclasses with luminaries such as James Galway, Marina Piccinini, and the Imani Winds Quintet. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD in flute studies at the University of Washington.
Taylor DeCastro (PIANO, UKULELE, VIOLIN, MUSIC EDUCATION)
Born and raised on O‘ahu, Hawai‘i, Taylor DeCastro is a versatile violinist whose artistry spans period performance and experimental music. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance, summa cum laude, from the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music, where she also minored in Studio Art. Her primary teachers include Rachel Lee Priday, Samantha George, and Colin Belisle.
Now based in Seattle, Ms. DeCastro is completing her Master of Music at the University of Washington, where she serves as a graduate teaching assistant. Her orchestral experience includes recent appointments as Concertmaster of Philharmonia Northwest, Assistant Principal Second Violin of the Olympia Symphony Orchestra, and Assistant Concertmaster of the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra. She also performs with Philharmonie Austin (TX), a period-instrument ensemble, and appears on their recordings released by Navona Records.
Past engagements include performances with the Auburn Symphony Orchestra, Yakima Symphony Orchestra, Bellevue Symphony Orchestra, and Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra (WI). In 2024, she was named a finalist in the Musicians Club of Women Competition in Chicago, IL, and has performed throughout the United States, Canada, and France.
Hannah Schafer (PIANO, UKULELE, VIOLIN, MUSIC EDUCATION)
Hannah Schafer is a violinist, pianist, and music educator who believes learning music can be fun and rewarding. Hannah is guided by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki’s philosophy that every child can learn music, and she aims to create an encouraging environment where children and adults can grow as artists and people.
Hannah took violin and piano lessons growing up and holds a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She has also received Suzuki Violin Teacher Training and studied piano pedagogy. Hannah has taught music lessons since 2017, first in her hometown of Walla Walla and later in San Francisco during her time at the Conservatory. During the 2021–2022 school year, Hannah taught violin and piano at Peace Music Academy in Khon Kaen, Thailand. In 2021, Hannah recorded an album of hymn arrangements titled “Be Still My Soul” with her trio, Rejoice Trio. Hannah plays violin in Candlelight Concerts in the greater Seattle area and has appeared as a soloist with the Spokane Symphony, Coeur d’Alene Symphony, and Grande-Ronde Symphony.
